The USB hub is a computer device that lets any device that uses USB ports to be able to connect to what was initially a singular USB port coming from the main computer or some other hub. Nowadays, most USB hubs are built straight on to many different equipments. Some of the more popular and well used examples of common equipment and devices that use USB hubs include: MP3 music players- iPods, iPhones, Blackberrys, Androids, printers, external monitors, keyboards and much more!

There are computers that will sometimes have a number of USB ports available. Occasionally, what this means is that they are only a part of a USB hub that was installed internally. This makes it so that each port will no longer need to have a driver on its own. There are USB hubs that can be sold separately, and may look in many different forms. There are box shaped USB hubs and many other shapes that are feasible.

A majority of the USB hubs being manufactured today make use of one or several integrated controller ICs. From there, several different designs are available from many different manufacturers. These manufacturers will often support a system that has four port hubs, although several others utilize seven port hub controllers.
